They say that artists just suffer sometimes but in this case this artist, the man who created the first ever version of the video game, “Madden NFL Football” is now suing the Electronic Arts company for huge money.

Why is this man, Robin Antonick going after one of the biggest video game companies in the world?
It’s because of royalties and profits.

The game is one of the most successful in history and sold over 85 million copies since it’s been on the market for over 2 decades. So one might be asking why he waited so long?

According to the story, Antonick says he hadn’t received a royalty payment since 1992.

He’s saying that he didn’t know the later incarnations of the game were based on his development.

He had worked out a deal with EA that any derivations would cut him in for some of the action.

However it wasn’t until the 20th anniversary of the game did Antonick say he realized he’d been played.

He’s suing for royalties and profits and he could get it if his story sticks up in court.

The problem is in his claims he didn’t know what EA was doing. However, there’s rumors that he’s been in quiet negotiations with EA but EA isn’t talking to the public or press yet.

It will be good to see where this goes as a flurry of creators, including Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen is spilling the beans about getting ripped off. It’s like an avalanche of people finally coming forward and exposing the darker side of the computing industry.
