Infinity Ward New Lawsuit – New details have surfaced regarding the legal battle between Infinity Ward and publisher Activision. Activision fired studio heads Jason West and Vince Zampella in March, two individuals that many credited with the success of the popular “Call of Duty” franchise of games. They reportedly forced employees to answer a number of questions about West and Zampella before firing them, and created a “police state”-like atmosphere in the office. The employees have complained that they were subjected to a hostile work environment.

CEO Bobby Kotick also allegedly promised that they would be paid the bonuses that they had earned through the success of Modern Warfare 2 in full. This promise never came to fruition, and many employees still have not received their full bonus.
“Despite Bobby Kotick’s oral statements to the employees of Infinity Ward to the contrary, Activision made a tactical and calculated decision to withhold $54 million of earned and vested bonus compensation from the Infinity Ward employees.” Said the complaint note that was leaked today.
They also claim that Activision breached a written promise that Modern Warfare 3 would not be the next game that the studio was going to be developing. It now appears that they will have to develop the game, despite the promises that were made by the studio. A trial date for both lawsuits from Jason West and Vince Zampella has been set for May 23, 2011. It will be interesting to see how this turns out, as the split between West, Zampella and Activision was very ugly.
